Formation is not self-improvement under a better framework. It is not discipline producing transformation. It is God at work within the human person — progressively reordering the whole self toward a life that can carry authority without being deformed by it.
Dallas Willard described spiritual disciplines as creating the conditions in which God transforms — not producing transformation themselves. This is the posture of the entire formation journey. The diagnostic surfaces what God is already working on. The sessions create space for that work to be named, received, and responded to. The practices hold the leader in the posture of cooperation.
What follows is the structure of that journey. But God is the one who walks it with you — and in you.

Every leader builds something to carry the weight of authority. The question is what they build it from. The self-made leader builds from competence, control, recognition, and results. It works — until it doesn't.
The called leader has learned to receive rather than generate authority. His identity does not depend on outcomes. His security does not rest on performance. He leads from a different source entirely.
This is not a moral distinction. It is a formation distinction. And the journey between the two is what this work is about.
