What I built was solid. What was forming underneath was not. Was ich baute, war solide. Was sich darunter formte, war es nicht.

For more than thirty years I led across international institutions — Big 4 consulting, development finance, humanitarian governance, faith-based organisations. I built what a self-made leader builds: competence, credibility, control. I carried authority across cultures, crises, and complexity.

And I was quietly being deformed by it.

Not suddenly. Not dramatically. The way a tree grows against the wind — imperceptibly, over years, until the shape is wrong and you can no longer remember when it began.

The weight of leadership without God as anchor had settled into my soul. Performance had replaced identity. Control had replaced trust. Results had replaced calling. From the outside, everything looked intact. From the inside, the fracture was already deep.

What I built was impressive. What it cost me was invisible — until it wasn't.

The collapse was quiet. No public failure, no scandal. Just the slow arrival of the truth: I could no longer sustain what I was carrying. The inner life had not kept pace with the outer demands.

What followed was not a course correction or a recovery programme. It was a formation — slow, costly, and more real than anything I had experienced before. Repentance. Rebuilding. A complete re-examination of the source from which I led.

Over time, what had become heavy began to become honest — and what became honest could finally be given back to God.

Out of that came The Soul of the Leader, the CARRY arc, and this work. Not as a theory. As a testimony.

Über 30 Jahre lang führte ich in internationalen Institutionen — Big-4-Beratung, Entwicklungsfinanzierung, humanitäre Governance, glaubensbasierte Organisationen. Ich baute, was ein selbstgemachter Leiter baut: Kompetenz, Glaubwürdigkeit, Kontrolle.

Und wurde dabei still deformiert.

Nicht plötzlich. Nicht dramatisch. Wie ein Baum, der gegen den Wind wächst — unmerklich, über Jahre, bis die Form falsch ist und man sich nicht mehr erinnern kann, wann es begann.

Das Gewicht der Führung ohne Gottes Verankerung hatte sich in meine Seele gesetzt. Leistung hatte Identität ersetzt. Kontrolle hatte Vertrauen ersetzt. Ergebnisse hatten Berufung ersetzt.

Was ich gebaut hatte, war beeindruckend. Was es mich kostete, war unsichtbar — bis es das nicht mehr war.

Was folgte war keine Kurskorrektur. Es war eine Formation — langsam, kostspielig, echter als alles was ich zuvor erlebt hatte. Busse. Wiederaufbau. Eine vollständige Neuuntersuchung der Quelle, aus der ich führte.

Mit der Zeit begann das, was schwer geworden war, ehrlich zu werden — und was ehrlich wurde, konnte endlich Gott zurückgegeben werden.

Daraus entstanden The Soul of the Leader, der CARRY-Bogen und diese Arbeit. Nicht als Theorie. Als Zeugnis.

I have spent more than thirty years in the worlds this work holds together: fourteen years at KPMG across Switzerland, Germany, and the United States; CFO of an international organisation with $250 million in annual income, eleven member associations, and eight regional offices; co-founder of a venture-backed fintech building tokenised debt infrastructure; and advisor to multilateral development banks across three continents.

And underneath all of it, I have been a follower of Jesus Christ learning the long passage from a self-made life that was working to a life held in something larger.
